Henry Hudgins had big dreams when he first purchased Summerland Key property in 1947. He began developing the island in 1948 as a residential community, which it still stands as today. The eclectic coastal vibe found throughout the keys is mirrored in the beautifully carved bamboo detail of the Summerland Key Bed. A more elaborate sister to the Savannah Bed, it exemplifies the early grandeur envisioned for the island and established in Henry Hudgins’ own estate, Hermitage, one of the island’s main attractions.
