As the tiny twelve-person plane approached St Barts I held my breath for two reasons- first of all because the view from the plane of the island was truly breathtaking and because the plane seemed as if it would surely shoot out of the end of the brief runway into the sea. The rest of the trip proved to be much more tranquil. The effortless beauty of the beaches compliments the elegance that the hotels, restaurants, shops, and vacationers exude. The style of St Barts is entirely its own- it’s a perfect blend of traditional French refinement and Caribbean charm.
