As you may know, Western North Carolina was recently hit by a devastating hurricane, and unfortunately, Norma has been profoundly affected. After spending days in waist deep water trying to salvage her cottage, she unfortunately has lost the entire first floor of her home, including her studio, and does not expect to recoup any losses from insurance.
I have been a client of Norma’s for 38 years, buying my first painting in Raleigh when I was newly married at 22 years old.
The painting, “Sunflowers” was my first commission from her. It has followed me to many homes, watched over my children as they were born and into adulthood. Her art has always been the brightest spot in our home, as I know it has for many of you as well.
Norma's art has always reflected the spirit and beauty of our community, and now, in this time of need, we have the opportunity to give back to someone who has given us so much through her work. We are organizing a fundraising effort to help Norma recover from this loss and rebuild her home. We have uploaded all of Norma’s artwork to our website and we will giving 100% of the sale proceeds directly to her.
